Due morti in meno di 48 ore hanno riportato al centro del dibattito nazionale l’uso del taser da parte delle forze dell’ordine. A Olbia, Gianpaolo Demartis, 57 anni, è deceduto dopo essere stato immobilizzato con l’arma elettrica dai carabinieri intervenuti in seguito a un suo comportamento violento. Poche ore dopo, a Sant’Olcese, in provincia di Genova, un uomo di 41 anni ha perso la vita in circostanze simili.
Le procure competenti hanno aperto fascicoli per omicidio colposo e al momento risultano indagati quattro carabinieri, due per ciascun episodio. L’obiettivo è chiarire se ci sia un nesso diretto tra l’utilizzo del taser e i decessi o se abbiano inciso patologie pregresse o altre condizioni.
La vicenda ha immediatamente acceso lo scontro politico. Il vicepremier Matteo Salvini ha difeso i militari scrivendo sui social: «Non prendetevela con i carabinieri, hanno fatto soltanto il loro dovere». Per il leader della Lega, l’arma resta uno strumento utile a garantire sicurezza e a limitare danni ben più gravi, offrendo un’alternativa all’uso delle pistole tradizionali.
Dall’altro lato, Avs ha chiesto lo stop immediato all’impiego del taser. Il deputato Filiberto Zaratti ha dichiarato: «Si tratta di un problema serio che va affrontato subito: il taser non garantisce sicurezza, anzi può provocare tragedie». Ancora più dura la garante dei detenuti in Sardegna, Irene Testa, che ha definito l’arma «una tortura legalizzata».
Il fronte delle forze dell’ordine ribatte: i sindacati di polizia sottolineano che il taser è considerato il metodo di contenimento meno violento, più sicuro sia per i cittadini sia per gli agenti rispetto ad altre forme di coercizione.
Il dibattito resta aperto: per alcuni il taser rappresenta un passo avanti nella gestione delle situazioni ad alto rischio, per altri un pericolo mortale mascherato da strumento di difesa. Intanto, le indagini andranno avanti per accertare la dinamica dei fatti e stabilire eventuali responsabilità.
Il Paese si interroga: il taser è davvero un’arma “non letale” o nasconde rischi troppo alti per poter essere considerato uno strumento di sicurezza?
